Bamboo is one of the strongest materials, with a tensile strength of 28,000 per square inch versus 23,000 for steel. It’s also 20% stronger than maple. It withstands up to 52,000 pounds of pressure psi. With a 10-30% annual increase in biomass versus 2-5% for trees. bamboo creates greater yields of raw material for use. One bamboo clump can produce 200 poles in the five years it takes one tree to reach maturity. It grows one third faster than the fastest growing tree. Some species can grow up to 1 meter per day. The bamboo plant doesn't die when canes are harvested, so there is no ugly clear-cutting, and erosion is prevented.
